History of the Ohm and Daligig

Eons upon eons ago, before sentient life began to truly spread through the multiverse, there was a race that called itself the Ohm. They originated from the planet they named Iithalen, “The Cradle”, for that was where they were born. The planet was a vast, living organism in and of itself, with the Ohm having evolved from the numerous, smaller symbiotic organisms that grew upon its surface. Having originated on a world so filled with life, the Ohm became masters of bio-engineering. All of their tools and “machines” were in actuality living, symbiotic creatures. They even began to bio-engineer their own bodies to how they wished.
They soon became the first sentient beings to achieve interdimensional travel and begin to cross the multiversal divide. In a short period of time they had established a vast, interdimensional empire. For a while, everything was peaceful and stable. Their colonies prospered and they were content with the way things were.

However, several millennia later, a problem arose that shattered their peaceful way of life. It had become apparent that due to the extreme bio-engineering the Ohm performed upon themselves, their genetic makeup was beginning to degrade. If they didn’t act quickly, they would soon become extinct. The only solution available to them was to gather genetic information from other life forms and use that to stabilize their own genes. In a frenzied panic to save themselves, the armies of the Ohm descended upon world after world, gathering whatever compatible genetic information they could from their fallen enemies.

Once enough genetic material had been gathered, the Ohm’s own genetic makeup was soon stabilized. However, a powerful majority of the Ohm began to believe that more would be needed to prevent such a problem from happening again in the future, and turned their eyes towards conquering more worlds. Others, however, ashamed at what they had done in the name of saving themselves, opposed this idea, stating they had done enough. These Ohm stood against the main Ohm forces, and soon came to blows. The fighting was intense, and both sides suffered heavy losses. The main Ohm forces, seeing that they were driving their race to extinction with their own actions, were horrified at what was happening. Eventually, they fled, their interdimensional empire abandoned for an empty, lifeless universe, where they would eventually evolve into the Ohm that exist today.

The other Ohm who had opposed the main Ohm forces, however, were left behind. Some of them, convinced that they should leave the rest of the multiverse alone for what they had done in the past, left to eventually become the Rom, interdimensional wanderers whose self-enlightening lifestyle allowed them to see the flow of the universe. Most of them, however, looked around them and saw the multiverse in chaos. They believed it their duty to bring order and stability to the multiverse. They renamed themselves Daligig, “Righteous”, in recognition of their new goal.

However, the Daligig would soon find that their task was not an easy one. Though they began by seeking peaceful solutions, the chaotic, warlike nature of so-called “unenlightened” species made this impossible. Soon, they began to use more forceful measures to bring the other species in line, conquering and bringing new worlds into their ever expanding empire.

Unsatisfied with the way things were going, the Daligig began to search for alternative means to bring order to the multiverse. However, their goals, ambition, and powerful drive soon drew the attention of the being known only as It. It was an ancient, powerful being, born when the multiverse was born, as much a concept as a sentient being. It also sought to bring order to the absolute chaos it saw in every aspect of the multiverse, though as it was now it could not do so. It soon made contact with the Daligig, offering them a solution to their problems, but only if their entire race submitted to Its will. The major powers within the Daligig Empire were intrigued with this offer, and so had the entire race vote upon the issue. However, those who opposed Its offer were killed by the millions, until only those who supported Its goals remained. This act solidified Its hold over the Daligig, and forever corrupted their species. Now, despite the way things appear to be, each Daligig holds the same beliefs, the same convictions, and the same goal: The complete and utter domination of the multiverse.

The plan that It and the Daligig would soon begin to enact would be named Project Godhead. It had informed the Daligig of an ancient story, fabled even among those counted as gods across the multiverse, of a powerful celestial “machine” known as the Convergence. It told them that if the Multiverse was altered in small, minute details so that specific events occurred across it, the pathway to the center of the multiverse would open, and the energy that flowed throughout the multiverse would begin to gather there, creating the Convergence. Whoever controlled the Convergence would have absolute, god-like control over the multiverse, and this was what It wished for. Therefore, Project Godhead was established to set about accomplishing this, no matter how many millennia it would take.

The plan for Project Godhead, however, would bring the Daligig unexpectedly into the domain of the now utterly alien Ohm, who had achieved becoming so interconnected with each other that they had no concept of non-Ohm. When the Daligig unknowingly attacked and destroyed an Ohm colony, the Ohm became infuriated, and, believing all other sentient life was as interconnected as they were, lashed out at any sentient beings they could find. The Daligig, believing they could make use of the Ohm, began to mislead them into attacking certain planets according to Project Godhead. Some of the planets the Daligig had them attack were “lynchpin” worlds, those whose fate was so powerful that were they to be erased from existence, their entire reality would be wiped out.

The Daligig soon began gathering powerful and “fated” beings, those who could accomplish the tasks set down by Project Godhead, from the realities they had the Ohm destroy, under the guise of “saving” them so that they could fight back against the Ohm. This was the Transmigration project, and countless millions of people were gathered, an army of Chosen, so that the Daligig could accomplish their mission given to them by It.
